The Erasmus+ Project “Genes4all: Enhancing Genetic Counseling Through Digital Tools and Serious Games” aims to develop innovative resources to improve genetic literacy, support decision-making, and provide psychological and educational support for families at a higher risk for neurodegenerative diseases (ND).
Neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and related disorders, affect millions of individuals and families worldwide. The project seeks to address challenges in genetic counseling by offering practical tools for healthcare professionals (HCPs), empowering the general public, and providing targeted support for families of people with neurodegenerative diseases (PwND).
Key Objectives:
- Support HCPs in genetic counseling sessions through the creation of a digital, innovative guide incorporating a new Service Delivery Model (SDM).
- Enhance genetic literacy and understanding for the general public using a Serious Game (SG).
- Support families of PwND with a SG and educational tools that combine knowledge enhancement, person-centered processes, genetic information, and psychological support.
- Promote behavioral and lifestyle changes as predictive measures for ND.
Project Results:
- An innovative Genetic Counseling Service Delivery Model, featuring digital tools to enhance the counseling process.
- A digital Serious Game, designed to improve genetic literacy, explain genetic testing, and assist individuals in understanding their genetic risk and test results.
- The “Genes4all” educational platform, offering practical tools for families at higher risk for ND and solutions to challenges encountered during genetic counseling.
