CAREαίες: «Ανοίγουμε CAREαίες για να σταματήσουμε τη βία»

Meaning: “Opening antennas to stop violence”

The project  «Ανοίγουμε CAREαίες για να σταματήσουμε τη βία» aims to raise awareness and activate the community, particularly young people, social workers, and related professionals, with the ultimate goal of creating a protective network for older women.

Expected Impact:

  • Connecting people and organizations: We bring together different individuals and organizations that share the common goal of stopping violence against people aged 60+ and collaborating to prevent or address it.
  • Reducing social exclusion: We create safe spaces and encourage the community, especially young people, to care for and support older adults.
  • Breaking silence and stereotypes: We promote a zero-tolerance culture toward violence against people aged 60+, combat stereotypes, and encourage people to speak up and take action.
  • Support and policies: We promote the development of policies and support structures that meet the needs of older adults.

Project Results and Sustainability:

  • Connection and collaboration: Networking different organizations and individuals will enable the exchange of knowledge and best practices, keeping the community active in the fight against gender-based violence.
  • Awareness and vigilance: Young people and the wider community will more easily recognize signs of gender-based violence, reduce silence around incidents, break stereotypes, and cultivate a zero-tolerance culture.
  • Campaigns and actions: Awareness campaigns and community mobilization will push for better policies and more support structures for older adults.
  • Education and empowerment: Professionals, volunteers, and community members will know how to detect, prevent, and manage incidents of violence, acting as agents of change.
  • Creating safe spaces: The culture of creating safe spaces for older adults will extend to other vulnerable groups, such as women who have experienced violence or LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Better incident management: Community vigilance and strengthening of organizations will help record incidents and increase reporting, promoting the rights of older adults.

Continuation of activities after the project:

  • The boxes with educational materials (CARE-Boxes) will be freely available to schools and organizations to continue activities.
  • Volunteers and the organization’s team will continue school visits and activities on site.
  • All educational and campaign materials will be available on the organization’s website, and online workshops will be recorded for free access.
  • Through newsletters and social media, materials will be continuously shared with the public.
  • Target groups that are created will continue to be active and organize activities with the support of the organization.
